Faith Formation

Formation in the Christian faith is a life-long process of growing in intimacy with God. At Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini , we provide a variety of opportunities for children, youth, and adults that nurture this process. However, formation in faith is formed in and through every parish function in liturgies, celebrations, meetings, activities, projects, ministries and campaigns

The faith formation program includes classes for Pre-K (3- and 4-year-olds) to adults.

Class Schedule

The faith formation program runs from August through May.
Pre-K- 12th Grade - Sunday 9:10 AM - 10:15 AM in Mother Cabrini Center
Adult Fellowship: 9-10:15 a.m. Sundays in the Mother Cabrini Center

Faith Formation for Pre - K through Fifth Grade Children

Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini offers a program of Catechesis for children that meet throughout the school year, registration for Children’s faith formation is held in late summer and meetings begins shortly after. The current curriculum is based on a spiral process that reinforces and develops the basics of Catholic teaching and practices on an ever-deepening level with each grade year.

Each summer in middle to late June, Vacation Bible School is offered for pre-kindergarten children through 5th grade. Middle and High School are involved as youth helpers. The VBS adult team begins their preparation in early January. Because of limit space enrollment has been limited to 100 children. Parish children and surrounding area children are invited to attend.

Faith Formation for Middle School Youth

The Faith Formation Program is combined with Youth Group activities and projects. The middle school program is designed to meet the educational, spiritual and emotional needs of young adolescents. A core team of adults along with the youth minister lead these group meetings that take the place of strictly classroom catechesis. The Youth Program offers also social and recreational activities designed to create a greater sense of community among our youth. Students have fun and enjoy themselves in a church setting. There are also opportunities for youth to put their faith into action through a variety of service projects.

Faith Formation for High School

The Faith Formation Program for High School is a comprehensive ministry which encompasses educational, social, issue oriented and spiritual components. These young adults are encouraged to bring their friends. There are scheduled annual retreats, weekly Bible studies, fun trips, Catholic Youth Conferences, and several service and outreach opportunities. As with the Middle School Program a core team of catechists and the Youth Minister serve, lead and walk with our young adults in this ministry.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is a formal program in which adults are formally admitted into the Church and receive the sacraments of initiation — baptism, confirmation, and Holy Eucharist.* Classes are offered on Monday evenings from August through April and culminate in the Easter Vigil.

Preparation for the Sacraments

First Reconciliation and First Eucharist

Preparing to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion are the focus of the second grade classes.

Parents of the communicants must also attend twelve classes during the course of the year. Half of the classes focus on faith renewal and the other half focus on resource information and home teaching strategies. These courses are designed to help parents reinforce and enrich what their children are learning.

Faith Formation for Parents

At Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, we believe that faith formation is a life-long process. This means that adults and children alike are called to grow in their faith, especially the parents of   sacramental class children. As an example parents of First Communicants attend Sacrament classes.  There are twelve classes during the course of the year. Six classes are dedicated to parents’ faith renewal and six classes are resources for the parents’/children’s sacramental homework.

Adult Faith Formation

Adult faith formation is a program devoted to the ongoing formation of the adult community of the parish. Members of the parish are strongly encouraged to participate in the weekly sessions as a way of strengthening their own commitments and knowledge thereof as well as their bonds to the local Catholic Community of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini. The various Adult Faith Formation programs sponsored by parish are announced through notices in the parish bulletin as well the parish web site.
